RDW Review-
Having used this weapon in the private game at Sean’s, and having had much inquiry as to my feelings for this weapon I decided to draft a review on it. For some background, as many of you know, I have only owned and operated classic army M series weapons. I currently own a modified M4-CQBR and a M15 A4.
Firstly to make it simple I will define this weapon as:
:
A weapon you likely want in your arsenal if you play outdoor cqb.
A weapon that would make an excellent secondary to a sniper rifle.
A weapon that has a decent rate of fire, ambi controls, and a solid feel.
A weapon that has great range for its size.
A weapon you leave stock because, IMO it cant be much improved cost effectively
A weapon that uses standard m4 mags and rail accessories.
Now, I cant speak to the long term durability, but I can say that the gun felt solid, performed well, and was generally confidence inspiring in combat. That being said, the ambi controls were a little annoying. By annoying, I mean when sprinting, crawling etc and gripping the weapon, my hand had a tendency of hitting the ambi side of the switch, and putting the gun either into safe mode, or into between auto and single. This meant that several times I engaged enemy and the gun did not fire. And I got shot. Multiple times. And I died.
That beings said for $200 I think this gun is pretty hard to beat for any kind of light recon, or secondary weapon role. I would never want to engage in a tit for tat shoot out at distance with someone with a longer weapon unless I held a clearly superior position, however in close, and at mid range this gun is totally awesome.
