Bio:
Hi everyone, my name is Christian. Friends just call me Aku. I've been airsofting for a little over 7 years on and off. I started with simple nameless backyard plinkers as a young teen, then heard about MilSim and more serious events later on. I've always had a great amount of respect for the armed forces and military in general, thanks to my grandfather who was in the Air Force for over 25 years. I attempted enlist in the USMC at 18, however I was "unacceptable" due to medical reasons. So with my military career nowhere in sight in my future I have turned to my airsoft hobby as a form of release. The camaraderie is fantastic, I like being part of a team and helping others when I can. In a squad I play as a rifleman however I do carry supplies like spare magazines for teammates, and have occasionally been a spotter for a local friend. I'm a team player and like to play support roles when I can.
As for impressions and such, I do not emulate any particular fighting force. I feel like I do not have the proper equipment or training to do so, and I do not want to disrespect anyone currently or previously enlisted. I have setups that vary depending on terrain, location, operation length & type, squad role, and temperature. My most recent near completed "impression" of any kind was one I started in 2006. I hate to admit but I am a video game nerd. After watching the trailer for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots that was shown at the Tokyo Game Show I knew I had to have a kit identical to these new soldiers. I call it my Praying Mantis kit, named after the very PMC it emulates in the game. I started collecting the pieces in late 2006 and it has since grown into near completion. I just need a few more odds and ends but those will come in due time. Luckily the bulk of it is complete. Ironically it is very similar if not the same basic outfit for BlackRain.
Weapon wise I have some tech skills, I modify my own gear and airsoft. Painting is something I love to do, I routinely paint my airsoft and those of friends. I even built a matching SOPMOD Carbine to go with my Praying Mantis kit. It was mainly to test myself, and it was great fun building it. Anyway, I believe I have bored you enough if you have read this far lol. I will leave you with some images since I saw it mentioned in the guide to a great intro thread. If you have questions please feel free to ask. Best Regards.
